  • Thirty strong swimmers are about to take on the challenge of a lifetime swimming 16 kilometres of the River Tyne. The Tyne River Swim is back for the third year and set to take place at the same time as tens of thousands compete in the Great North Run on September 15.

  • The Port of Tyne is set to throw open the doors to two of the regions most iconic and historic buildings as hundreds are expected to join heritage tours at Tynemouth Lighthouse and the Swing Bridge as part of Heritage Open Days.

  • This Sunday (1 September), the Port of Tyne's Swing Bridge in Newcastle will be illuminated in red to support Blood Cancer Awareness Month.

  • The Port of Tynes six million pound gantry crane is due to be moved in to position at its Riverside Quay, South Tyneside on Monday 12 August.
