A knockout way to generate vital cash10 Oct 2011

Employees from the Port of Tyne took part in this year's ‘It's A Knockout' challenge at Monkton Stadium in Jarrow, to raise £2,000 for St Clare's Hospice on Sunday, October 9.

Vanessa Mustard-Wright, Corporate and Legacy Fundraiser for St. Clare's Hospice, said: "We feel that it is very important to maintain a strong connection with the local business community and we are very grateful that staff from Port of Tyne took the time to take part."

Carolyn Cormier, an Administrator for the Port of Tyne Distribution department, said: "I heard about this event while I was helping to raise money for Comic Relief. I knew straight away that it was a great idea for the Port to get involved in and it goes towards a great cause. Everyone has been really keen to get involved whether they want to take part or make donations.

"The two Port of Tyne teams finished in second and third place overall making it was a very successful day all-round."

Geoff Gillon, Director of Human Resources for the Port of Tyne, said: "The ‘It's A Knockout' challenge is a great way for the Port of Tyne to get involved for a worthy cause."
