New Director at the Port of Tyne06 Sep 2011

The Port of Tyne, one of the UK's major deep sea ports, is pleased to announce the appointment of Maxine Pott to the Board as a Non-Executive Director with effect from September 2011.

 

Sir Ian Wrigglesworth, Chair of the Port of Tyne said: "I am delighted to welcome Maxine to the Board. She is a highly respected accountant with a wealth of experience in finance and management who will bring further depth and insight to the independent Non-Executive Board in what are exciting and challenging times ahead for the Port of Tyne."

The Board runs the award-winning Port at the heart of North East England for the benefit of the stakeholders of the Port and the River Tyne. The Board provides the strategic direction for continued growth and sustainability of the Port, its five business areas and the businesses it supports across the North East region.

Ms Pott, a Chartered Accountant and Director of RMT Accountants and Business Advisors in Newcastle upon Tyne, has over 20 years' experience in accountancy and business management. She is a former Non-Executive Director of the Universal Building Society and Newcastle Building Society.

Andrew Moffat, Chief Executive Officer, Port of Tyne said: "Maxine brings a wealth of national and international board experience as well as operational expertise and proven leadership in established companies. I am looking forward to working with her as we progress our business growth plans for the Port."

Ms Pott said: "The Port of Tyne is already an exciting business and I am looking forward to being part of the team steering it through the challenges ahead as it continues to grow and develop."
