PORT OF TYNE BOWLED OVER WITH CRICKET SPONSORSHIP 01 Jul 2014

Durham County Cricket Club is delighted to announce that Port of Tyne has extended its limited-overs shirt sponsorship deal with the club.

As one of the UK's major ports, the Port of Tyne has been associated with the county champions since 2010, and in a new partnership its support is set to continue until the end of the 2016 season.

Port of Tyne will sponsor the side in the new Royal London One-Day Cup.

The 50 over competition, introduced at the start of the current season, begins on the 27th of July when Durham take on Somerset at Taunton.

David Harker, Group Chief Executive of Durham County Cricket Club, said: "We have a well-established and mutually beneficial relationship with the Port of Tyne, so we are delighted to have their support for another three years".

"This is a really significant partnership which helps the club look forward and meet our long term objectives."

As part of the new agreement, school children throughout the region will continue to benefit from a specially designed education programme.

In partnership with Port of Tyne, the club's foundation activity reaches over 2,500 young people in north-east England each year.

Andrew Moffat, Port of Tyne Chief Executive, said: "The Port prides itself on developing relationships with businesses, whether as client or customer, and the agreement with Durham allows the Port to continue to provide a wide range of benefits not only to businesses but just as importantly to the local community through the clubs foundation activity.

"We're delighted to be associated with the sporting success of Durham County Cricket Club, especially as it has a strong reputation for being a business that takes its corporate responsibility seriously."

The Port of Tyne looks to explore new markets across the country from the M62 corridor and beyond, and anticipates its partnership with Durham County Cricket Club will assist in raising its brand profile in its key markets.
