THE PORT OF TYNE PHOTO AND FILM COMPETITION IS BACK20 Jun 2012
Created by the Port of Tyne, the Reflect photo and film competition, has been leading the way for the past six years in capturing the image of the region.
Susan Wear Port of Tyne, Director of Corporate Affairs said: "The competition is a great way
for everyone to get involved and use film and photography to capture the great people, places and environment of the North East region whatever equipment or skills they have. Last year one of the winning photos was taken on a mobile phone. So I'd encourage everyone to have a go."
The competition involves hundreds of people each year entering photos and films. Last year more than 3,000 entries from across the UK and beyond were entered with both professional and amateur photographers and filmmakers participating.
There is a prize of £500 for the winner in each category and all winners and runners up entries will be exhibited at various venues in the North East throughout the year.
The categories include a Reflect Youth section aimed at encouraging under 16s (aged 16 years and under) to enter films about "What the River means to me" and photos encapsulating the people, the places and the environment.
