Weightlifting champion visits Port 28 Jun 2011
The South African-born weightlifter won Commonwealth titles representing both England and New Zealand and has also won several World power lifting and Masters World power lifting titles. His diminutive stature of 1.45m (4' 9") made him a distinctive figure at any competition.
Now a private consultant in the field of back injury prevention, Precious is the New Zealand Safety Council's Manual Handling Advisor and runs courses in New Zealand, Australia, Singapore, the United Kingdom, and USA.
"One back injury is one too many", says Precious, "My aim is to explain why we need to take care of our backs by explaining the workings of the anatomy, especially the spinal column, and how it reacts to different workplace postures. The three main themes of my seminars are information, participation and humour"
