Walking the walk as well as talking the talk


Writer-in -Residence, Michael Chaplin is putting his best foot forward and taking on a new challenge, trekking nearly 40 miles to walk from South Shields Pier to Wylam, crossing the river and finishing at Tynemouth Pier.

The walk which Michel expects to take ten days will start on Tuesday 12 July and include stops at points of interest along the way, covering roughly 4 miles a day.
Anyone is encouraged to walk with him for part  or all of the way. Companies, residents and community associations located along the banks of the Tyne are being asked to make Michael welcome.
