PORT OF TYNE WINS SUSTAINABLE SUPPLY CHAIN MANAGEMENT AWARD

Port of Tyne wins Sustainable Supply Chain Management Award at the Seatrade Awards

We are thrilled to be announced as the first ever winner of the Seatrade Maritime Award for ‘Sustainable Supply Chain Management’!

The Seatrade Awards are highly regarded in the industry and are independently judged by a panel of experts, so winning this award is a tremendous achievement for us. The new award for Sustainable Supply Chain Management has been developed in association with the International Marine Purchasing Association and celebrates companies and individuals putting sustainability at the heart of their supply chain management processes.

At the Port of Tyne we are very open about putting sustainability at the forefront of our business strategy with Tyne 2050 and thanks to the dedication of all of our team involved, we are well on the way to net zero. By the end of 2021, we will have removed a third of our own carbon emissions and helped our customers remove 700 tonnes of CO2 from their supply chains too.

James Wright, Environment Manager at the Port of Tyne accepted the award on behalf of the Port “Winning this Seatrade Award shows we really are leading the way in maritime and we thank the judges for recognising our efforts.”
