With expert coaching, mentorship, and networking opportunities, the programme empowers innovators to drive sustainable growth in the maritime industry.

The Port of Tyne is proud to announce the return of Venture Connect in 2025, following the success of 2024’s programme. This initiative, designed to connect North East SMEs with investors, will continue to drive sustainable innovation within the maritime industry.

The return of Venture Connect for 2025 was officially unveiled by Julia Prescot CBE, Deputy Chair at the Port of Tyne, during the third annual Maritime Innovation Week

Participants benefit from expert coaching, tailored one-on-one mentorship, and access to a robust network of investors and peers. The programme supports innovators addressing critical industry challenges such as decarbonisation, clean energy transition, battery technology, green logistics, and climate resilience.

Julia Prescot CBE commented: “It was thrilling to see last year’s Venture Connect participants pitch their businesses on stage at Maritime Innovation Week. The programme’s aim is to cultivate a supportive community, dedicated to helping innovators succeed. This reflects the collaborative, nurturing ecosystem that Venture Connect has created.”

Dr Jo North, Innovation Ecosystem Director at the Port of Tyne, added: “The North East is home to a vibrant tech and innovation ecosystem. With the return of Venture Connect, we’re building on this momentum. We’re immensely proud of the achievements of our 2024 cohort, and we’re excited to support the next wave of innovators who will drive green growth and ambition across the maritime industry.”
