Spark extends reach in partnership with Port of Tyne14 Sep 2008

The North East's leading global logistics specialist, Port of Tyne, has entered into an important partnership with Gateshead-based fulfilment and contact centre service provider, Spark Response, to extend the company's international eCommerce distribution function. The project involves the implementation of a flexible extension of approximately 40,000 square foot storage capacity to satisfy Spark's requirements across its varied annual seasonal peaks. Spark Response was founded as a specialist in brochure and catalogue fulfilment and has grown in strength and experience, keeping pace in the rapidly evolving home shopping market. Spark now manages the end-to-end fulfilment operations for a variety of clients, handling everything from customer internet orders to large-scale retail replenishment and trade orders.

Spark also operates both inbound and outbound contact centres at its 170,000 square foot site on Follingsby Park in Gateshead. The company's impressive client portfolio includes household names E.ON, One NorthEast and Toys R Us as well as prominent eCommerce retailers, Straight PLC and gro-groupTM

Cost savings, optimum efficiency, total reliability and environmental awareness are all driving factors in the search for the best supply chain solutions and the Port of Tyne has vast experience of delivering the best package to meet the needs of its clients.

With a reputation firmly founded on strong customer focus, the Port of Tyne's Interim Managing Director, Mike Davison, is delighted with the new partnership opportunity and says: "The port has steadily become an acknowledged expert in providing the all-important critical in-time and on-time delivery crucial for the retail sector. Add this to the fact that we pride ourselves on meeting and exceeding customer KPIs, we are receiving increasing interest in our storage and distribution solutions from national retailers."

Noel Lambert, Operations Director at Spark Response, explains: "Port of Tyne provides a best-fit local solution to accommodating the seasonal demands of our business and enhancing the service provision to our clients and their customers. At Spark, we are committed to developing long-term working relationships with businesses throughout the region and look forward to working with Port of Tyne more closely, having previously been impressed with their logistics services and excellent facilities and systems."

Operational Note to Editors
