Great Exhibition of the North

For 80 days this summer, the Great Exhibition of the North will transform NewcastleGateshead, celebrating great art, culture, design and innovation.

The Port of Tyne is proud to be one of the partners of this summer’s Great Exhibition of the North, which is a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity to place the North East of England centre stage. The three-month festival will celebrate art and culture, design and innovation from across the North of England and will offer millions of people the opportunity to see the best in innovation and creativity.

The event will feature fascinating exhibits, live performances, displays of innovation, new artworks and magical experiences set against the stunning cityscape of NewcastleGateshead.

The celebration will spill out onto the streets and into the city’s bars, restaurants and cafes, creating an atmosphere of togetherness and shared ambition.

Visitors will begin their journey at one of three iconic venues – Great North Museum, BALTIC Centre for Contemporary Art and Sage Gateshead – before joining three interconnected trails through 30 world-class venues.

Celebrating the Northern innovation, a Business Summit will showcase diversity, boost tourism and deliver growth to the region whilst telling a pioneering story which will change the way the world views the North.
