Durham Cathedral

See for yourself why Durham Cathedral has been voted the Britain's best building (2011) and is considered one of the finest churches in Europe.

A truly magnificent sight to behold, Durham Cathedral is a Christian church of the Anglican community. It is famed for its seat of the Bishop of Durham and the shrine of St Cuthbert, representing the long lineage of pilgrimage and spirituality in the North East of England. The cathedral is set on the high point of the city next to Durham Castle, on the banks of the picturesque river and looking down on the remarkable landscape of the medieval city and its narrow cobbled streets.
